2027 Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania Annual Convention

The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania (LPPA) hereby issues its official Call to Convention for the 2027 Annual State Convention, to be held March 19–21, 2027, at the Altoona Grand Hotel in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Members, convention delegates, county affiliate representatives, candidates, activists, and supporters of liberty from across the Commonwealth are invited to participate in a weekend of official party business, leadership development, grassroots training, and networking.

In accordance with the LPPA’s alternating two-year convention cycle, 2027 is designated as an Odd Year Convention, with official business focused on amendments to the party’s governing documents and the election of Judicial Committee members.

Official Convention Business

Pursuant to the LPPA’s alternating two-year convention cycle, the 2027 Annual Convention is designated for the following business:

Amendments to the LPPA Bylaws

Convention delegates will have the opportunity to consider and vote upon properly submitted amendments to the LPPA Bylaws.

These amendments may address the party’s organizational structure, governance, operational procedures, and other matters within the scope of the Bylaws.

Amendments to the Statement of Principles

Delegates will consider properly submitted amendments to the LPPA Statement of Principles, which expresses the foundational beliefs and philosophical commitments of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania.

Amendments to the LPPA Platform

Delegates will consider properly submitted amendments to the LPPA Platform, which communicates the party’s positions on public policy and its vision for advancing individual liberty throughout the Commonwealth.

Election of Judicial Committee Members

The 2027 Convention will include the election of members to the LPPA Judicial Committee in accordance with the party’s governing documents and applicable convention rules.

Off-Year Convention Business

Under the LPPA’s alternating convention cycle, certain business is ordinarily reserved for Even Year Conventions, including Executive Committee officer elections and nominations of statewide and federal candidates for public office.

However, the governing rules permit Off-Year Matters to be considered under specific circumstances.

A Member in Good Standing may move from the convention floor to take up an Off-Year Matter. Such a motion must:

Be made before approval of the convention agenda.
Receive the approval of three-fourths (¾) of the Convention Delegates then present on the convention floor.

Only upon satisfying these requirements may an Off-Year Matter be taken up during the 2027 Convention.

Convention Delegates and Voting Eligibility

Registration to attend the official convention business meeting is FREE.

Voting privileges are governed by the LPPA Constitution, Bylaws, and applicable convention rules.

Attendees wishing to participate as voting convention delegates must satisfy all applicable membership and delegate eligibility requirements.

Registration for the convention does not automatically establish voting eligibility.

Members are encouraged to verify their membership and delegate status before the convention.

Training and Leadership Development

In addition to official convention business, the 2027 Convention will emphasize practical training designed to strengthen LPPA county affiliates, support candidates, and improve grassroots outreach across Pennsylvania.

Featured Training Sessions

Grassroots Outreach: Effective Tabling and Voter Engagement

Learn how to represent the Libertarian Party at community events, fairs, festivals, and public gatherings. This session will focus on communicating libertarian principles, engaging prospective supporters, recruiting members, and building lasting community connections.

Door-to-Door Canvassing and Voter Outreach

Develop effective canvassing skills, learn how to engage voters in meaningful conversations, identify supporters, and organize neighborhood outreach efforts that strengthen local affiliates and political campaigns.

Campaign Finance and Treasurer Responsibilities

Understand the essential financial responsibilities of political campaigns and party organizations, including contributions, expenditures, recordkeeping, financial reporting, compliance, and accountability.

Digital Campaigning: Social Media Strategy and Political Messaging

Explore strategies for communicating effectively through social media, developing engaging campaign content, building a recognizable digital presence, recruiting volunteers, and expanding outreach through online platforms.

Additional training sessions, presenters, and schedules may be announced as the convention approaches.

Registration for the 2027 Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania Annual Convention is open.

Attendees may register for the official business meeting free of charge or purchase a convention package that includes meals and additional amenities.

Alcohol service is subject to applicable laws, age restrictions, and hotel policies.

The Altoona Grand Hotel is the official host location for the 2027 Annual Convention.

Attendees are encouraged to arrange accommodations early. Any special convention room rates, booking instructions, and reservation deadlines will be announced once confirmed.

Hotel accommodations are separate from convention registration packages unless expressly stated.

Submission of Proposed Amendments

Members wishing to submit proposed amendments to the LPPA Bylaws, Statement of Principles, or Platform must comply with the applicable procedures and submission deadlines established by the LPPA governing documents.

Information regarding amendment submissions, publication of proposed changes, and other procedural requirements will be provided through official party communication channels.

Delegates are encouraged to review all properly submitted proposals before the convention to ensure informed participation in debate and voting.

Guest Speakers and Networking

The convention will also feature opportunities to connect with Libertarians from across Pennsylvania, exchange ideas with county affiliate leaders, and participate in discussions about growing the liberty movement.
