FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF PENNSYLVANIA NOMINATES KEN KRAWCHUK FOR GOVERNOR AND JOHN THOMAS FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
State Convention Selects Experienced Liberty Advocates to Lead 2026 Ticket
Warminster, PA — The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania concluded its state convention on March 22, 2026, formally nominating Ken Krawchuk of Abington as its candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania and John Thomas as its candidate for Lieutenant Governor. The nominations were made by delegates gathered at the party’s annual convention held March 21–22, 2026.
Krawchuk, a seasoned Libertarian standard-bearer, brings decades of political experience to the ticket. A three-time Libertarian gubernatorial candidate — having run in 1998, 2002, and 2018 — he has shattered records with each successive campaign, earning 49,229 votes in his most recent bid, then a record for any Libertarian gubernatorial candidate in Pennsylvania history.
Beyond politics, Krawchuk is the founder and president of Amendment 16 Ltd., a 35-year-old information technology consulting firm, and has been a professional computer programmer since 1970. He holds a B.S. in Physics from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and is the lead inventor of three U.S. patents for a novel integrated database management system. He is also the author of Atlas Snubbed, a political satire sequel to Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, and hosted The Pennsylvania Project, a weekly talk radio program on WWDB in Philadelphia that aired 246 episodes.
Krawchuk’s platform — a Gubernatorial 12-Step Program to Reform Pennsylvania — calls for ending the state monopoly on education, vetoing all tax increases, abolishing property taxes, phasing out the personal income tax, ending the state monopoly on education, eliminating parole for violent criminals, pardoning all non-violent drug offenders, decriminalizing marijuana, and defending Second Amendment rights, among other reforms.
On the issue of education, Krawchuk was direct:
“It’s a crying shame that most kids in Pennsylvania schools can’t read, write, or do math at grade level. The time has come to privatize our schools, save our children’s future, and eliminate the mis-spent property tax once and for all. Instead of trapping our children in a failed government school, let’s champion Education Savings Accounts where each child receives an $11,500 voucher to allow parents to choose the private school of their choice — and without raising taxes.” — Ken Krawchuk, Libertarian Candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania
John Thomas of Kittanning joins the ticket as the nominee for Lieutenant Governor, bringing his own record of civic engagement and public service to the Krawchuk campaign. A professional educator, Thomas has served his community as an elected constable and ran for the Armstrong School Board in 2023. In 2024, he was the Libertarian Party’s candidate for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, carrying the party’s message of liberty and limited government to voters statewide. His background in education makes him a natural partner to Krawchuk on one of the ticket’s signature issues: liberating Pennsylvania’s children from a failing government school system.
The Krawchuk–Thomas ticket will offer Pennsylvanians a principled alternative to the major parties in the November 2026 general election, advocating for policies that return control of education and daily life to individual citizens, restore freedom, and reduce the tax burden on families and businesses.
