FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania Urges Voters to Reject Supreme Court Justices Up for Retention

Cranberry Twp, PA – At its annual convention on March 2, 2025, the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania (LPPA) voted unanimously to endorse voting NO on retaining the Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices seeking retention in November’s General Election. The justices up for retention—Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht—failed to uphold constitutional liberties, particularly in their ruling that allowed Governor Tom Wolf to wield emergency powers to enforce COVID-19 lockdowns.

John Thomas, the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania’s 2024 U.S. Senate candidate, stated, “These judges preferred political patronage to justice. True justice respects property rights and freedom of association. We call on Pennsylvanians to reject these justices, so we can return to justice.”

The LPPA’s resolution urges voters to hold the judiciary accountable for its failure to defend individual liberties and to send a clear message that Pennsylvanians will not tolerate judicial complicity in government overreach.

Founded in 1971, the Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in the state and the nation, with over 200 elected and appointed officials currently serving in office in Pennsylvania, plus many more nationally. Like the Founding Fathers, Libertarians believe that you have an inalienable right to conduct your life as you see fit, without interference, so long as you respect the rights and property of others.
