Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania Condemns Governor Josh Shapiro, Former Senator Bob Casey, and Representative Brian Fitzpatrick for Undermining Efforts to End the War in Ukraine
Cranberry Twp, PA – The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania (LPPA) has adopted a resolution condemning Governor Josh Shapiro, former Senator Bob Casey, and Representative Brian Fitzpatrick for their continued support of policies that prolong U.S. involvement in the war in Ukraine. The resolution, passed unanimously at the LPPA’s annual convention on March 2, 2025, reaffirms the party’s steadfast commitment to non-interventionism and calls on Pennsylvania’s elected officials to reject further funding and military aid for the conflict.
“The people of Pennsylvania, and Americans across the country, are tired of endless wars that drain our economy, drive up inflation and debt, and cost innocent lives,” said Greg Deal, Chair of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania. “Governor Shapiro, former Senator Casey, and Representative Fitzpatrick have chosen to prioritize the interests of the military-industrial complex over the well-being of Pennsylvanians. It’s time to bring our resources home, focus on peace through diplomacy, and end these reckless foreign entanglements.”
The resolution condemns Shapiro, Casey, and Fitzpatrick for undermining diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict. It comes following the infamous September 2024 where Governor Shapiro and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posed for cameras while signing artillery shells at the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant. It also calls on all Pennsylvania elected officials to oppose further military funding and intervention abroad, emphasizing the importance of economic stability, fiscal responsibility, and the principles of non-interventionism.

Resolution Condemning Governor Josh Shapiro, Former Senator Bob Casey, and Representative Brian Fitzpatrick for Undermining Efforts to End the War in Ukraine and Reaffirming the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania’s Commitment to Non-Interventionism
WHEREAS, the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania stands firmly against the
interventionist foreign policy that has entangled the United States in
endless wars, drained the American economy, and cost countless lives; and
WHEREAS, Governor Josh Shapiro, former Senator Bob Casey, and Representative Brian Fitzpatrick have
consistently supported policies that prolong U.S. involvement in the
conflict in Ukraine, directly contradicting growing calls from Americans
across the political spectrum to pursue diplomatic solutions and an
immediate cessation of hostilities; and
WHEREAS, Governor Shapiro, former Senator Casey, and Representative Brian Fitzpatrick have publicly
undermined efforts by the current administration to engage in peace
talks and de-escalate tensions, choosing instead to promote the
interests of the military-industrial complex and foreign entanglements
over the well-being and safety of the American people; and
WHEREAS, the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania recognizes that peace and
prosperity are best achieved through free trade, diplomacy, and a
foreign policy rooted in non-interventionism and respect for the
sovereignty of all nations; and
WHEREAS, continued funding, weapons transfers, and military aid to
Ukraine not only risk escalating the conflict into a broader regional or
global war, but also deepen the financial burden on hardworking
Pennsylvanians through reckless deficit spending and inflationary
pressures; and
WHEREAS, it is not the role of the United States to serve as the
world’s policeman, and the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania stands
resolute in its opposition to all foreign military interventions that do
not directly defend the homeland;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania
condemns Governor Josh Shapiro, former Senator Bob Casey, Representative Brian Fitzpatrick for their
ongoing efforts to undermine diplomatic initiatives and their unwavering
support for continued U.S. involvement in the war in Ukraine.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania reaffirms
its steadfast commitment to a foreign policy of non-interventionism,
peace through diplomacy, and the immediate cessation of all foreign
military aid and entanglements that do not serve the direct defense of
the American people and the territory of the United States.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania urges all
elected officials in the Commonwealth to reject the influence of the
military-industrial complex, oppose any further funding or involvement
in the Ukraine conflict, and prioritize the well-being, economic
stability, and liberty of Pennsylvanians.
