Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania Candidates Challenge Harrisburg Establishment in Special Election
Harrisburg, PA – The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania (LPPA) has qualified multiple candidates for the upcoming special elections to be held March 25, 2025. Zachary Moore will represent the LPPA for the vacant seat in the 36th State Senate district, in Lancaster County. Adam Kitta will represent the LPPA for the vacant seat in the 35th State House district, in Allegheny County.
Lancaster and Allegheny counties, both pivotal in the recent General Election in November have proven the influence Libertarian candidates, and Libertarian voters can have on elections.
Zachary Moore, a resident of Mount Joy and professional GIS Analyst, brings unique experience supporting and improving operations of utilities, planning, environmental, public safety, and other agencies. Moore holds a BA from Millersville University in Geography and Emergency Management. Moore is adamant about government transparency, accountability, fiscal responsibility, and fixing schools. “Virtually nothing is working well now. We need school choice, property tax relief, and no matter how the funding formula is tweaked, schools will never be ‘fairly’ funded by government,” Moore said. “It should be obvious by now that fundamental change is necessary. Give money to parents and schools will be fairly funded by the tuitions they earn. Free market competition will provide the best education at the lowest cost, just as it does for other goods and services.”
Adam Kitta, a resident of White Oak works in the non-profit sector. While studying Criminal Justice at Pittsburgh Technical College, he began volunteering with the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services where he rose to become the Assistant Director for the Department. His work has allowed him to provide aid to both victims of disaster and support other emergency personnel responding to those victims. Kitta’s work has brough him to multiple states and territories where he expertly coordinated with various communities, levels of government, and other non-profit organizations. “My campaign has three main priorities: first is economic stimulation of the Mon Valley area, second is volunteerism, and third is criminal justice reform. With economic stimulation I’d like to create new opportunities for job training and education in our area, as well as offering tax incentives for new businesses looking to start up or additional businesses looking to move in.”
When asked about the importance of the upcoming special election, LPPA chair, Greg Deal responded, “Pennsylvania voters demand and deserve additional options at the polls. As the only qualified minor political party in Pennsylvania, it is our responsibility to find quality pro-liberty candidates. Because of our previous political victories and vote totals, it is our right and privilege to run these candidates in special elections without have to spend valuable time and resources on petitioning. I believe that Zach Moore and Adam Kitta will offer voters a true alternative to the business-as-usual candidates in Harrisburg and be great messengers and representatives for the party.”
