In December 2017, other Libertarians told me “bickering, finger-pointing, and complaining” were getting in the way of our party’s ability to grow. In my January 2018 article, I mentioned that this kind of behavior is an indicator of a void in thriving behaviors and I promised that this month, I would address what’s most likely missing when there’s “bickering, finger-pointing, and complaining.”

At the End the Fed rally in Philadelphia, PA in September 2017, it was an unusually warm day, but the hot topic of conversation was disappointment and frustration about the future. On stage throughout the day were a string of candidates such as Larry Sharpe, Steve Sheetz, and Dale Kerns, each of whom held the attention of the crowd but were discussed throughout the day as having goals like "cover the margin" and "make a good showing." Even among the most die hard, optimism for a true win was hard to find.

Our party is growing. Not only is it growing it is evolving. With new members come new ideas and philosophical discussions. As these ideas evolve we always need to go back to our basic philosophies to keep ourselves from turning into another party intent on curtailing our liberties. It’s a lot of work and it is the right thing to do. For anyone new to the party or thinking about affiliating there is the most basic rule: live and let live.
